Located in High Point across from marker R-27A, peace and quiet abound when you come and enjoy your vacation in our Smith Mountain Lake home that sleeps six. Ten minutes to Bridgewater by boat or by car.
Enter the upper level to the fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and dining area which seats six. It opens to the living room with a fireplace and a 27 “ TV with VCR/DVD player. The sunroom extends off the living room and has a poker table for card games and a sliding glass door to the deck that overlooks the woods and dock. A full bath and a large master bathroom with a king size bed complete the upper level.
Downstairs is another full bath, a second bedroom with a queen size bed and a third bedroom with a twin over double bunkbed. The family room on this level has a queen size sleeper, a fireplace with an insert and another 27” TV with VCR/DVD player. Sliding glass doors open to the cover patio. A washer and dryer are located in the utility room on this level.
Stairs lead down to the dock that has room for your two boats in an open slip and a partially covered slip. A large party deck is located above the dock. It is located on the end of a quiet cove that is great for swimming with little boat traffic.
A community area is located across the street which includes tennis courts, a basketball hoop and a large open field for soccer, kickball, or any other activity you can imagine.
The Smith Mountain Yacht Club and a state boat ramp are close by as well as several marinas and the state park.

Falling Pines is one of those pieces of property that is somehow special. Everyone who visits seems to have the same reaction: it feels good just being there.
Located on a private court, the front of the house is wonderfully landscaped and a great place to hang around. Kids can play or bike in the court with no worries about cars, and the garage even has its own deck attached to the house where you can relax for a change of pace.
An private acre and a half that feels like much more, the wooded grounds slope gently down to a bluff at the waters edge where a bridge takes you to a dock with its topside deck.
The house has 3 bedrooms, a full bath with separate shower and tub, and a half bath attached to the master bedroom. Two of the bedrooms have king beds; the "kids room" has two twin beds. There's a family room opening on to a large deck overlooking the grounds and lake, a living room with fireplace, a dining room that seats 8, and a well equipped kitchen with plenty of room for everyone to chip in to prepare dinner. There's also a large laundry room with washer/dryer.
There's a selection of games and books, DVD and satellite TV, and the front porch and a portion of the main deck are covered. So it's comfortable and there's plenty to do in the winter, or when it rains. Smith Mountain Lake is a spectacular place! Relatively undiscovered for quite a while, it's become a popular destination as people found about its amazing characteristics:

It has deep, wonderfully clear water
It has great fishing and water sports
It's convenient - an easy 3 1/2 hour drive from the DC area, and a quick 2 hours from the Winston Salem area
Falling Pines is at the northern part of the lake, where the Roanoke River turns into SML proper. This is perhaps the best location on the lake, as it's away from the summer crowds yet only a 20 minute car or boat ride to Bridgewater Plaza which has become the center of activity on the water and also only 25 minutes to Roanoke with it's dining, shopping, and cultural activities.
The private community boat ramp is just around the corner.
There's a general store with a little of just about everything 5 minutes away. And it's not even 10 minutes to the Diamond Hill general store, a historic stop dating to the 1800's, that is now a gourmet shop with great sandwiches and a terrific wine selection. And there are plenty of grocery stores just a short drive away, including a new gourmet Kroger just past Bridgewater Plaza. Area highlights:Bridgewater Plaza: a neat collection of shops and restaurants including a great putt putt course built on a deck over the water; several restaurants including Chinese, a pizza place, and a gourmet deli; and Mangos which is a rocking outdoor party with live music in season. There's also a couple of marinas where you can rent boats and get fuel and boating supplies.
SML State Park: includes a white sand beach, beautiful swimming area, picnic areas, snack bar, and playground. It feels like being at the beach.
The Landing Restaurant: you'll want to boat here, as it's near the center of lake on the opposite side. An enjoyable boat ride but a tedious car ride. The food is fabulous - this is a serious restaurant. But it's also casual.
Roanoke Downtown Market: This is on the Eastern edge of Roanoke which makes it super convenient to Falling Pines. A covered outdoor market with crafts, fresh produce from local farms, some gourmet shops, galleries, interesting clothing shops, etc. A very enjoyable place to stroll around. There are several bars and restaurants, a terrific cheese shop, and the Roanoke Weiner Stand which serves one of the best chili dogs there is. And free Wi-Fi.
D-Day Memorial: in the quaint little town of Bedford about a half an hour away. Not much going on in the town, but the D-Day Memorial is an amazing place.
